Issue 7 • July, 2011
Hi Folks,
I'm not one to reminisce nostalgically, but our recent show over
at Ravenswood Manor Park was memorable for many reasons. It
was a treat having my daughter Abbie along during the set to sing
some tunes, and getting to play along with
Nick
and Angie during their set. It was nice of the weather
to provide such a pleasant evening and not rain, and it was
especially wonderful for the Horner Park Advisory Council to
invite us out to play for such a swell audience. To all of
you who came out last week, we are grateful and, if we had hats,
we would doff them to you.
We have some potentially out-of-this-world-and-into-the-next,
phenomenally great shows coming up for you, so grab your pen and
paper, iphone or droid, chisel and stone and let's get started
shall we?
SUN. JULY 3rd 9:00PM ― HORSESHOE TEXAS BBQ ―
DOMANTAY RECORDS PRESENTS
4115 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, IL 60618
Domantay Records, a San Fransisco based indie label is presenting
a night of live music at The Horseshoe this coming Sunday.
We're not quite sure what we are doing there since we are not on
the label, but hey, when our front office tells us to go do the
gig we grab our gear and go. What I do know is The Horseshoe
is a fine music venue with a busy calendar of hep bands and they
have good, slow cooked bar-b-que, so we are more than happy to be
a part of the fun. When I say we are more than happy, we
are, as the British say, chuffed.
SAT. JULY 16th 9:30PM ― MOHER PUBLIC HOUSE
5310 W. Devon Ave., Chicago, IL 60646
Kris and I will be making our Moher Pub debut where we are looking
forward to meeting the fine and well-heeled folks around Forest
Glen. For those of you who are experts in Celtic culture,
Moher's Public House serves up authentic Shepard's Pie and fish
and chips along with a great selection of beers, blueberry
martini's, and such. Don't wait for us to tell you next
month what a great time you missed. C'mon out and see for
yourself.
THURS. JULY 21st 9:00PM ― DUKE'S BAR
6920 N. Glenwood, Chicago, IL 60626
As many of you, I'm sure, are aware, we last played Duke's back in
March and had a big 'ol time of it. We are pleased to be
making a return appearance to this fabulous Roger's Park
establishment for a Thursday acoustic show. If you have ever
wandered when or if there would be a chance to hear some original
songwriting on a warm summer night alongside a well stocked bar
THIS IS IT! Come fill our tip jar!
SAT. JULY 23rd 9:00PM ― CULLEN'S BAR &
GRILL
3741 N. Southport Ave., Chicago, IL 60613
Now, Kris and I like a great, traditional Irish pub as much as the
next guy. We like that Irish pubs like music and think
enough of their customers to have it on a regular basis. We
like Notre Dame! So, we love this place. It is the
sine
qua non of Chicago Irish pubs. We have made it out on
occasion to
Scott Besaw's Wednesday open
mic and we are huge fans of the clientele, the meatloaf, and the
whole staff. We are looking forward to this one. The
Cubs play Houston at Wrigley that afternoon, If they win we will
play the entire show in beach attire. You can see the game,
shuffle up Southport, and catch our act.
FRI. AUGUST 5th 8:00PM ― LOVELL'S OF LAKE
FOREST
915 S. Waukegan Rd., Lake Forest, IL 60045
That's right, it is our triumphant return to the Captain's
Quarters! Please join us for a mission briefing in the
lounge. Drinks will be served; songs will be sung; oaths
will be sworn; laughs will be had; hearts will be broken―but only
if you don't come. Bring your kids, and their kids if they
have any. Leave your worries on your doorstep.
And that will about wrap it up for this
issue of Where and When. Remember, we only send you this
helpful reminder of what we're up to because you are a
discerning music aficionado with an eclectic taste, and you are
unique, just like everybody else.
