Issue 14 ● February, 2012
Hey Folks,
Welcome to what was predicted as one of the worst Chicago
winters ever.
If the snow fort you were hoping to build with some of the 58"
of snow isn't coming together as well as you were expecting, we
have some shows to help you take your mind off of the
disappointment. So grab your Sharpie and jot this down on
Sarah Palin's palm if she's available or your own if she's not:
SAT. FEBRUARY 11th
9:30PM—MOHER PUBLIC HOUSE
It's that time again, folks. Time to head on out to Edgebrook with
your best sweetheart for a lovely pre-Valentine evening of food
and drink. We'll be on hand to croon your favorites (if your
favorites include songs we have written or happen to know). The
staff at Moher's will supply the fine service and refreshments.
There's free parking and free love if you can find it.
SUN. FEBRUARY 19th
8:00PM—UNCOMMON GROUND
If things get any better, we may have to hire someone to help us
enjoy it. This gig has got
all the fixin's so to
speak. Uncommon Ground is a comfy Northside lounge that is a
terrific venue for singer-songwriter types like us. And on
this night we will be joined by
Mikal Shapiro, a
singer-songwriter fine as any finer thing, for an entire evening's
worth of musical fun.
Kansas City songwriter
and visual artist Mikal Shapiro draws inspiration from such
disparate sources as Bessie Smith, Peggy Lee, Annie Lennox, and
The Violent Femmes. Her most recent independent release on
the Rabbithead Label,
For Good, features her eclectic
melodies and penetrating lyrical sense that she similarly explored
on 2008’s
The Crow, The Lark, and The Loon, and 2005’s
The
Boon.
Tickets are $7 and this is a show you don't want to miss.
So there you have it! Two extraordinary chances to catch
"The Show" in February, and there are more dates at
Lovell's
and at
Moher
Public House coming in March. Thanks for tuning
in. As always, we look forward to seeing you
where and
when we can.
With warm regards,

between a drummer and a drum machine? On a drum machine you
only need to punch the beat in once.
