Issue 47 - October 1, 2023

Hey Folks,
From out of the deepening shadows of the twilight hours comes a man with a guitar case and a small satchel. From out of the satchel he takes a microphone and a cable. He plugs it in and begins to adjust it just so. His guitar is tuned to Greenwich Mean Time. Several of his songs are considered classified by the State Department. He coined the term, It's a vibe! He speaks languages that have yet to be discovered. His Lakota name is Mark Zeus, and he is coming to a joint near you.

The Four Treys
3333 N. Damen Ave., Chicago, IL 60618

We liked this gig so much the last time we decided to do it all over again. This place is so dog friendly that your dog probably already has heard of it, so let your pooch bring you and they˜ll introduce you around. As Albert Einstein once observed, a bartender is just a pharmacist with a limited inventory. Well, Mark at the bar can cure what ails ya, or at least keep you maintaining an even strain until a cure can be found. Come on out and see why we have been voted the most likely act to play the Four Treys on Friday, October 6th at 9:00PM. Next to none can make the same claim.

The Sportz Nook

2020 N. Oakley, Chicago IL 60647
This will be our second time visiting this fun Elmwood Park nightspot, which means we either left our capo behind and need to retrieve it, or our agent, Murray, was able to convince them to have us back. It's a great room right there on Grand Ave. You can't miss it; it's right there between the tire shop and the vacant lot. Get your slow leak fixed or some new steel belted radials while we play some of your favorites at this afternoon gig.

Gallery Cabaret

2020 N. Oakley, Chicago IL 60647

Garrett Lane has been Master of Ceremonies at Gallery Cabaret since about the time the federal government last had a budget surplus. He regularly hosts songwriter nights because he truly enjoys songwriters doing their thang. This Wednesday night will certainly be no exception as it will once again be Songwriter Night at Gallery Cabaret featuring yours truly along with Mark Zeus as we set out to prove once again why independent music is cool and so much of the corporate rock that Sony, UMG, and WMG want you to listen to is not allowed behind the doors of the Gallery because Garrett Lane does not permit it. We'll play the stuff the suits don't want you to hear because they're too afrain you'll like it. This place is a classic Chicago hang, and if you've never been, its never too late.

Fri. Oct. 13, 2023 7:30PMFinnigan's Pub
Woodfire Tavern
4868 Illinois 83,Long Grove, IL, 60047

If you go down to the crossroads and try to flag a ride and that crossroads is at Rt. 83 and Gilmer in Long Grove, you'll notice a big ol' barn of place up atop the hill. That's a swingin' joint with smokin' hot BBQ, a full bar, and live music”and on this particular night that live music is us. The waitstaff will treat you like you're their long lost cousin and food comes out of the kitchen like mom's been cooking all day. Pick out a pumpkin nearby while you're at it and carve a big wide grin in it and call him Jack. Then you'll be all set for Halloween.

Once again, this is the kind of entertainment the mainstream media thinks you are not ready to handle, but since you are a valued member of an elite club of music aficionados, you get to know where the cool gigs are happening. So if you know some other cool people (and why wouldn't you?), like and describe them to us, and we will see you Where and When we can.

With warmest regards,

Two musicians are walking down the street, and one says to the other, "Who was that piccolo I saw you with last night?"
The other replies, "That was no piccolo, that was my fife."
