MZ BANNER
Issue 48 - December 4, 2023

Hey Folks,

The old yule log is burning brightly in the ashtray sitting on Murray's desk in the our offices above the taxidermy supply store. The oscillating fan nods aimlessly left then right then left again wafting the aromatic smoke towards the Snap-On Tool calendar featuring December's lovely model replacing November's equally fetching one. Murray, our robotic booking agent and all around capable office appliance (and one of the early working versions of AI) still has his same dull witted vacant-eyed stare and slack-jawed countenance meaning his circuitry is in somewhat good working order. We've decorated a sad looking $15 tree with dollar store ornaments on the bookcase, and we are ready for all the Holiday Festivities to come. Welcome to the 48th issue of Where & When, your guide to some very cool gigs.

The St. John Family Hour might be missing its bassist and one of its three vocalists as Abi is off attending grad school at the moment, but that doesn't mean the show doesn't go on. It does and, as they say, it must! Ella and I are going to be doing some Christmas themed numbers at CWS€™ annual Holiday Fair immediately followed by yours truly joining the Holidorfs! on they're big showbiz debut at the same event. After our musical numbers, you are welcome to stick around and dip a candle, try some delicious home baked goodies from the bakery, or buy handcrafted artisanal goods from our vendors. It is as much magic as can be set up and torn down in a single weekend, and it has become a seasonal favorite event for us for a while now.

Montrose Saloon PicFri. December 29th 8:30PM
Montrose Saloon

2933 W. Montrose Ave., Chicago, IL 60618

Abi will be making her triumphant return from grad school and will be picking up the bass once again to join me onstage at what has become one of our favorite spots in the city, Montrose Saloon. We will be playing some of the songs we forgot to play last time we were here as well as some of the ones we may have already played, but [whispering] don't tell the management. We promised them an all new show. Wear your new Christmas sweater! Bring out that cigar lighter that Aunt Clara got you. We'll be going on at 8:30PM right after Reverie Stone, and right before Tele Moon and Back Alley Miracle. We are listed on the bill as Marlon St. John because I couldn't come up with an equally cool sounding name. Hey, I know! Come out and bring your name suggestions. We're all ears.

Coming Soon...Finnigan's Pub

We are currently working on another album, Come On In, over at Gravity Studios with the lovely and talented Doug McBride. It should be ready soon after the start of the new year. We look forward to sharing it with you over at our Bandcamp site where those of you who may not yet have a copy of our first album can still get one while the virtual supplies last, which I'm told is indefinitely.

Well, that about wraps it up and places it under the tree for us. All of us here at Work Song Productions, including Murray our automated piece of office equipment and workplace curmudgeon, are wishing the best and brightest of the holiday season to you. You are special and, like everyone else on our very selective list of music aficionados, there is no one else quite like you. We hope to see you Where & When we can.
